Ms. Carolyn Todaro

Ms. Carolyn Todaro serves as the Vice President of Student Success at American Public University System (APUS), where she leads a centralized advising department of professional academic advisors. She is responsible for guiding and implementing approaches that result in improved student persistence and success.

Ms. Todaro joined APUS in 2005 and since then she has served as the department leader for several key areas, including Student Affairs, Alumni Affairs, Career Services, and Academic Advising. Among her many accomplishments, Ms. Todaro spearheaded the early development of co-curricular programming — boasting an industry-coveted chapter standards program, peer mentoring, commencement, and a variety of other student and alumni awards and honors.

In her current role, Ms. Todaro’s notable achievements include implementing Robotic Process Automation (RPA) for an improved student and advisor experience, launching a first-term advising experience program with personalized program pathways, and crafting a proactive academic advising model with both group and 1:1 support. She has also successfully co-led the Excellence in Academic Advising initiative, a high-profile, comprehensive, two-year self-study sponsored by the Gardner Institute and NACADA.

Ms. Todaro has a strong passion for service excellence and embraces the mission of the Advisor as an advocate for the student. In 2017, she was honored as the inaugural recipient of the university’s Excellence in Service award. In 2024, she received the APUS Warrior of the Year Award.

Ms. Todaro holds an M.A.in Management from American Military University and a B.A. from Radford University.
