System Outage APUS is experiencing a system outage that is impacting access to both the e-campus and classroom, as well as university services. We are working diligently on a solution.

The National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security have designated American Public University System as a Center of Academic Excellence – Cybersecurity (CAE-C).

The APUS Center for Cyber Defense (CCD), organized under the School of Security and Global Studies, is a university-wide resource designed to foster cybersecurity awareness across the various disciplines. The mission of the CCD is to provide program guidance and oversight, cyber defense information, collaboration, research, and outreach opportunities for students, faculty, and other organizations.

The CCD supports the development of multi-disciplinary education, including science, engineering, space policy, and national and global security, and is involved in the shaping of cybersecurity education through contribution to curricula and faculty development.

The CCD also serves as a portal for cyber defense education to craft the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. These leaders will defend our nation’s citizens, industry, government, and academic institutions. Headed by two Full Time Professors that serve as Co-Directors, Dr. Harry Cooper and Dr. Elliott Lynn, the CCD is supported by cybersecurity faculty members from across APUS. An industry advisory council (IAC) meets regularly and provides oversight and guidance. Learn more about CCD educational activities.

The National Security Agency (NSA) Center of Academic Excellence (CAE) Program has validated that the American Public University System Bachelor’s of Cybersecurity meets all elements of the required Program of Study (PoS) covering three Foundational Knowledge Units (KUs), five Technical KUs, and 14 additional Cyber Topic KUs. Learn more about the CAE Program.
