Dr. Brian Freeland

Dr. Brian Freeland is the Dean of the School of Health Sciences. In his role as Dean, Dr. Freeland is committed to ensuring the highest quality of teaching and learning within the school and is responsible for leading the quality and successful delivery of teaching and learning within the school.

Dr. Freeland has been with the American Public University System since 2007. His dedication to academic excellence and forward-thinking approach to education have significantly contributed to the success and growth of the School of Health Sciences. His efforts ensure that the school remains at the forefront of preparing healthcare professionals that are well-equipped to meet the challenges of a dynamic healthcare landscape. Dr. Freeland initiated a Faculty Advising program for students and created a preferred scheduling model designed to increase teaching effectiveness.

Prior to his role as Dean, Dr. Freeland served as the Department Chair for Sports and Health Science and Sports Management where he led the development of multiple new degree programs and certificates.

Dr. Freeland holds an Ed.D.in Athletic Administration from Northcentral University an MSc in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy, and a B.S. in Health and Physical Education from Radford University .
