IntelHub Founding Directors

Professor of Politics in the School of History, Politics and International Relations at the University of Leicester. He has published widely on intelligence and security issues and is the author or editor of several books, including Intelligence in an Insecure World with Peter Gill (2nd ed. Polity Press, 2012) and Understanding the Intelligence Cycle (Routledge, 2013). He is the co-editor of the journal Intelligence and National Security and a Fellow of the UK Academy of Social Sciences. His book with Sir David Omand, Principled Spying: The Ethics of Secret Intelligence, will be published by Oxford University Press and Georgetown University Press in 2018, when a 3rd edition of Intelligence in an Insecure World will be published by Polity Press.

Dr. Rubén Arcos, PhD, is lecturer of communication sciences at Rey Juan Carlos University (Madrid). He is the founder and chapter chair of Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP) for Spain and founding co-director of IntelHub. He is a freelance contributor of Jane’s Intelligence Review and deputy editor of The International Journal of Intelligence, Security, and Public Affairs. He has served for almost 10 years as coordinating director of the first ever Master’s degree in Intelligence Analysis in Spain. Arcos has published extensively in intelligence studies, strategic communications, and experiential learning in intelligence through simulations and games. He has been appointed national member for NATO Task group SAS-114 on “Assessment and Communication of Uncertainty in Intelligence to Support Decision-Making.” He has published articles in Intelligence and National Security, the International Journal of Intelligence and Counterintelligence, Technology Analysis and Strategic Management, Public Relations Review, and Competitive Intelligence Magazine., among others journals. His recent publications include Intelligence Communication in the Digital Era: Transforming Security, Defence and Business (co-edited with Randolph H. Pherson) and The Art of Intelligence: Simulations, Exercises, and Games (co-edited with William. J. Lahneman).
